M6: Greece

After tearfully saying goodbye to Egypt, I pedaled for about five minutes. Then the scenery began to change. The dry terrain switched to beautiful rolling hills and bright blue ocean views. Ancient Greece. I rolled into a busy market place full of people. They stared at me as I passed. I was so charmed by the thatched huts full of olive oil and pottery that I parked my bike and walked into a brightly colored shop selling warm goats milk. I was handed a mug of warm liquid. I sat back in a comfy chair and sipped my drink, listening to a quiet mummer of ancient Greek.
Rich, sweet milk rolled down my throat as I downed my third cup. A gruff man of superior size eyed me behind the counter.
"You can pay for that right?" He asked.
I had acquired quiet a substantial amount of money in Egypt, and crunchy bread filled my backpack. Bread and beer were the currency in Egypt.
"Of course." I answered.
I handed him a loaf. He gave me a strange look.
"Do you think this is ancient times or something?" He asked. "We only except tetradrachmas."
He absent-mindedly flipped a silver coin.
An hour later I was fiercely scrubbing a worn mug. I was paying for the milk I had drank by washing dishes. Even though I wasn't having fun exploring Greece like I had planned at least I had a job and a place to stay. Tired after a long day, I lay down on the lumpy straw mat in the corner and started to snore.
